Wells Classic Motorcycle Club has cancelled the 2020 Tortoise and Hare Run which was to be held on Sunday, June 7 because of the coronavirus outbreak.

"This is a big disappointment to us all as it was the event's tenth year and we hoped to make it a bit special," said organiser Chris Weeks.

"We have returned all entrants and advertisers monies due to the uncertain times ahead for many.

"I do feel for all the various charities that will miss out over the next few months and in particular the Air Ambulance and Blood Bikes."

The run is for all classes of motorcycles across the Mendip Hills and surrounding countryside.

The larger and more modern bikes, the Hares, take the longest route while the Tortoises, smaller capacity and older machines, are given a shorter one.
