An entertaining game for a 0-0 result saw Wells City and Hengrove Athletic playing the right way and having chances to take the three points.

The first chance came on two minutes when a rasping 30-yard drive from Kieran Davis was tipped wide.

On seven minutes a Charlie Crook throw in was headed down by Dale Hunt and Craig Herrod, on the full, narrowly volleyed wide.

After nine minutes Wells half cleared and the ball dropped to Hengrove's number 7 who just missed the top corner from the edge of the box.

Another half hearted clearance after 11 minutes once again dropped to the number 7 but his effort dribbled wide.

On 21 minutes a neat one two between Herrod and Hunt saw Herrod fizz an effort just past the top left corner.

After 22 minutes a lack of communication at the back saw Hengrove's number 8 chase after a loose ball but Harley Wilkinson bravely came out and claimed the ball taking a knock in the process.

A dangerous looping cross by Crook on 29 minutes was cleared off line line before Harry Foster could apply a finishing touch.

On the half-hour mark, a fizzed low cross by the Hengrove number 9 was somehow cleared by Ben Amghar, just going over the Wells bar.

From the resulting corner, Hengrove's number 5 found himself eight yards out with some space but he blazed wide when he should have at least hit the target.

The first action of the second half came when Harvey Hadrill controlled a loose ball from a corner and laid the ball to Foster who curled his shot just wide from the edge of the box.

On 56 minutes good link up between Tom Hill and Hunt saw Hill's shot blocked before Herrod met the dropping ball but the keeper saved with his feet.

From the resulting corner Hunt met Herrod's ball but headed wide when he should have hit the target.

On the hour mark, a flick on by Hadrill put Foster through at a tight angle and the keeper held his effort well.

Two minutes later, Padfield found space in the box and pulled the ball back to Hunt who blazed over from 10 yards.

After 68 minutes a fierce strike from 20 yards by Hadrill saw the ball smash against the bar with the keeper stranded.

On 78 minutes a great through ball from Hill freed Foster but he shot straight at the keeper when one on one.

A sharp Hengrove counter attack on 84 minutes saw the ball squared to their number 9 who should have done better but fired high and wide from the penalty spot when one on one.

With two minutes left on the clock, a brilliant solo effort from Crook saw him win the ball back on the half way line before he evaded four Hengrove challenges and then fired narrowly over from 30 yards, meaning the game finished 0-0.

Wells are at home again this Saturday as they welcome Welton with a 3pm kick off.
