Wells City Council invites nominations for Civic Awards 2023

Wells City Council is calling for nominations for its Civic Awards 2023, set to recognise individuals, groups and businesses that have made a significant impact in the local community.

The winners will be celebrated in a gala ceremony at the Town Hall on Friday, 12 January, where they will receive special awards mementos.

The Civic Awards will feature nine categories designed to honour a wide range of contributions:

  • Citizen of the Year: Celebrates an individual's notable work in the community.
  • Volunteer of the Year: Acknowledges someone who has selflessly donated their time for community benefit.
  • Community Organisation of the Year: Honours a voluntary organisation offering valuable services to the community.
  • Business of the Year: Recognises a local business that has shown strong community support or engagement.
  • Senior Sportsperson of the Year: Awards someone aged 18 or over for their achievements in sports.
  • Junior Sportsperson of the Year: Honours an individual under 18 for their sporting accomplishments.
  • Young Person of the Year: Celebrates a young individual, under 18, who has volunteered their time to better the community.
  • Environmental Champion: Recognises contributions toward environmental sustainability from an individual, business, or organisation.
  • Extra Mile Award: Highlights someone who has gone above and beyond in their service to the community.
