If you're looking for something to put you well and truly into the festive spirit this year, you're in luck. Christmas in Wells, a special Christmas market, will take place on December 17.

Up to 100 stalls are expected to set up between 9am and 3pm, lining the Market Place and through into the Bishop's Palace Green.

Visitors will be treated with seasonal gifts and local food and drink in the beautiful city centre and can embrace the holiday season with live music and entertainment to enjoy.

Wells Town Crier, Len Sweales, will be joined by the Leader of Mendip District Council, Cllr Ros Wyke, in front of the Bishop's Palace Eye for the official opening of the market and a ribbon cutting at 11.15am.

The event has been organised by Mendip District Council who say they hope it will deliver an unforgettable experience and hopes residents and visitors alike will join in the Christmas spirit, and support stall holders at this important trading time.

Councillor Simon Carswell, Portfolio Holder for Economic Development, said: "I'm very excited that our much-loved Christmas market is returning to Wells.
