Liberal Democrat Virginia Lois Rogers has won the Wells Central seat in the Mendip District Council 2019 elections, getting more than double the votes of the former representative Conservative John North.

With a 46.2 per cent turnout, the Lib Dem received 500 votes, to the Conservative's 247, with the Labour Party's Gill Pettitt getting 63 votes.

The result is the first to be announced from the Mendip elections, and we will keep uploading stories on Wells Nub News as further results come in.
