Firefighters will stage a simulated emergency at Wells Cathedral next month, with visitors warned to expect crews, equipment and emergency vehicles.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service will carry out the planned training exercise on Saturday, 7 November, from 8.30am until noon.

The cathedral has issued advance notice to reassure people who may see the activity. It forms part of its work with emergency services to protect the building and the people who use it.

The preparations cover the safety of visitors, volunteers, staff and the wider community. Simulated emergency activity will allow crews to train at the cathedral.

Its notice states: "Please do not be alarmed. This is not a real emergency."

Further information is available on the Wells Cathedral website.
