If you want to lend your voice to the campaign to save bus services in the area, then join the Wells Bus User Group at a rally at Wells bus station on Monday (September 5).

The event has been organised to coincide with Catch The Bus Month, which encourages people to make the most of bus services.

Anyone who would like to take part should go to Wells Bus Station at 10am, and people are being encouraged to then catch a bus themselves.

The Wells Bus User Group has been collecting signatures in a bid to save the 126 bus service between Wells and Weston-super-Mare, which First have decided will be axed from October 9.

Spokesperson for the Wells Bus User Group, and Wells City Councillor Denise Denis, said: "I have written to Cllr Mike Rigby at Somerset County Council to let him know that we have collected over 950 signatures, and we are extremely concerned for the villages along the route.

"The Catch the Bus Month Campaign is more important than ever- we need to publicise the need to maintain the surviving routes and timetables."
