Wells residents have until Wednesday, 11 November to have their say on plans to lower speed limits and change parking arrangements across the city. No decisions have been made, and comments on social media will not count as formal responses.

The proposals include 20mph limits on Wookey Hole Road, Ash Lane, Kennion Road and Milton Lane. The aim is to improve pedestrian safety around schools, particularly for children walking to and from lessons.

Speed limits around Blake Road and Welsford Avenue would also be brought into line with surrounding residential streets. Elsewhere, the package proposes more disabled parking spaces and changes to parking restrictions and loading bays.

Wells City Council developed the proposals with Accessible Wells and Somerset Council. The consultation opened on 14 October, with residents and businesses invited to support, object to or comment on the plans.

Feedback will be considered before the proposals go before Wells Full Council on 26 November. Its recommendation will then go to Somerset Council, with any approved changes potentially introduced over winter.

Residents can view the proposals and complete the consultation online. Paper questionnaires are available from reception at Wells Town Hall.
