There's a question that families frequently ask when a loved one is diagnosed with dementia: "What do we do now?"
They may be given too little information. "But there can be too much noise," said Amy Watkins of the Wells Dementia Action Alliance.
They may get a pile of booklets and leaflets, as well as national websites to peruse, but with little guidance about services available near home.
"Bigger organisations give you lots of information and you have to search for what is relevant to you," said Amy, who used to work for the Alzheimer's Society.
So Amy has created a local website on behalf of the action alliance and will keep it updated.
"We have pulled together information about all the resources available for people living with dementia in the Wells area."
The website can be found by clicking on the red button below. Updates can be emailed to [email protected].
- A talk for carers called Eating Well for Dementia will be given by Lesley Harper from the Community Dietetic Service on Tuesday, February 4, from 2.45pm to 3.45pm at The Lawrence Centre, 37 Chamberlain Street, Wells, BA5 2PQ (by Union Street car park).
