Thirteen-year-old Charlie Ballamy, who is a scholarship pupil at Wells Cathedral School, plays The Last Post in honour of all those who lost their lives.

He is just a few years younger than the men who went to war and the hundreds of thousands of them who lost their lives on the battlefields.

The talented young musician, who lives in Frome, has played the piece at other remembrance days and has always been moved by the sparing notes.

Charlie, who is in his second year at Wells and has ambitions to be a professional jazz musician, said: "When I play it, I think about all those who fought.

"It is a deep emotional piece. I listen to the names read out of those who have been killed, and that is always so moving."

Under lockdown and at home, Charlie is keeping up with his music work, and homework, but misses his friends: "I hope everyone is staying safe."
