A Ukrainian family residing in Wells has reached out to the community with a heartfelt appeal for assistance in finding a new home.

Having fled their homeland due to the full-scale war, the family of three has been living in Wells for a year and a half under the Homes for Ukraine scheme with a local host family.

However, as they seek to build a more independent life and further integrate into the community, they find themselves in need of their own accommodation.

The mother, living with her husband and son, said: "We left Ukraine because of full-scale war, leaving our dreams and plans behind."

Now, with both parents working in Wells and their son thriving in the local school system, the family's ties to the city have deepened, making the search for a new home in Wells critical for their continued integration and well-being.

Despite their efforts, in collaboration with Somerset Council's Housing Team, to locate a 2-bedroom apartment to rent by the end of April, the search has proved challenging.

The mother's plea is a call to action for the Wells community: "We are looking for any opportunity to find an apartment/house for our family. That's why we do really hope that this letter may attract the attention of a potential landlord/landlady or their friends and contacts."

The family encourages anyone who can assist or knows someone who might to reach out via [email protected].

"We would be incredibly grateful for your time and involvement," the mother added.
