Trio Paradis, a classical piano trio based in the Bath area, is set to bring their unique Café Concerts to St Thomas Church in Wells.

The trio, comprising Jacquelyn Bevan (piano), Lisa Betteridge (violin), and Linda Stocks (cello), is known for their diverse range of musical styles and commitment to making live music accessible to all.

The Café Concerts, scheduled to begin on Monday, 5th February at 11 AM, are informal daytime events aimed at a wide audience, including older residents, those with transportation or financial constraints, caregivers, and home-educated families. Each month will feature a different theme, starting with a tribute to Spanish and Portuguese music.

Trio Paradis's mission extends beyond just performing. They are part of the growing Café Concerts network, striving to build audiences and bring live music to those who have not traditionally attended classical concerts. Their free concerts, based on pay-what-you-feel donations, provide a welcoming environment where music lovers can enjoy performances in a social setting, contributing positively to mental health and wellbeing.

The ensemble is also a champion of women composers, regularly including their works in concerts. Their diverse programme for the upcoming months at St Thomas Church includes:

  • 5th February: Iberia – Spanish & Portuguese Music
  • 4th March: Daughter of the Muse – Music by Women Composers
  • 8th April: Birdsong – Inspired by Feathered Friends
  • 6th May: The English Romantics – Early 20th Century Masterpieces
  • 3rd June: The Flower Garden – Roses and More

Recognised for their community contribution, Trio Paradis has a history of bringing music to various audiences. During the 2020-21 lockdown, they reached audiences through livestreams and recorded concerts. The trio also performs at residential care homes and traditional concert venues, including the Leipzig Mendelssohn Haus.
