Many of the companies which have been granted the prestigious Royal Warrant will have to reapply following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

For the last 70 years, a Royal Warrant of Appointment was granted as a mark of recognition to people or companies who have regularly supplied goods or services to HM The Queen, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh or HRH The Prince of Wales or their Households.

The Monarch decides who may grant Royal Warrants. These are known as the Grantors. Up until the Queen's death, HM The Queen and HRH The Prince of Wales could grant Royal Warrants. Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh were also grantors of Warrants.

The 180 warrants Charles issued as Prince of Wales will continue now that he is King because they go with the household, not the title, but those granted by the Queen will need to reapply.

Many of the products affiliated with the Queen are well known brands, such as Marmite, Twinings Tea, Cadbury's chocolates and Heinz sauces.

There are several Somerset businesses which hold Royal Warrants including:

Holy Well Glass in Wells – a family-run stained glass conservation studio which carries out works to many of the great cathedrals, churches and country houses in the UK and beyond. Holy Well Glass created the decorative glass doors for the Queen's private chapel at Windsor.

A J Charlton & Sons Ltd in Buckland Down – a gates and fencing manufacturer which has been creating beautiful gates for more than 119 years.

Ivy House Farm Dairy in Beckington – a fully certified organic farm supplying dairy to customers across the South of England.
