Wells is gearing up for an action-packed weekend with a variety of events sure to delight residents and visitors alike.

From thrilling tribute nights to historical reenactments, there's something for everyone.

The weekend kicks off on Friday, 26th July 2024, with a legendary rock night featuring Foo Fakers and Nirvanot. These top tribute bands will perform classic hits from Foo Fighters and Nirvana at 19:30. Expect high-octane performances that will have the crowd singing and moshing all night long.

From "Smells Like Teen Spirit" to "Everlong," this event promises to be a nirvana for rock fans. Don't miss your chance to see these tributes in action and get ready to be "All My Life" amazed. Tickets are available online now.

On Saturday, 27th July 2024, The Bishop's Palace and Gardens in Wells will host a Vikings and Archery Day. Visitors can immerse themselves in the skills and crafts of the Viking Age, with demonstrations by the Draca Beordor Viking Age Re-enactment group. Fierce warriors will display combat techniques, and Wells City Archers will showcase their archery prowess, offering 'Have a Go' sessions for an additional fee. This family-friendly event includes access to the 14 acres of Palace gardens and the Dragon's Lair Play Area, perfect for kids to explore. The newly refurbished Bishop's Table café will also be open, serving a range of refreshments. There is no additional charge for this event beyond standard admission. Music enthusiasts will not want to miss the Somerset Chamber Choir's 40th Anniversary Concert, titled "Sound the Trumpet!" on Saturday evening from 19:00 to 21:00 at Wells Cathedral. This special concert celebrates 40 years of the choir's foundation in 1984 and features a distinguished line-up of musicians, including the period-instrument ensemble Florilegium and a stunning array of vocal soloists. Highlights of the concert include Tallis's 40-part masterpiece Spem in Alium and Bach's Magnificat in D. Join the celebration in one of England's most beautiful and poetic cathedrals. For those seeking a spooky adventure, the Wookey Hole Ghost Hunt takes place from 20:00 on Friday, 26th July to 02:00 the next morning. Hosted by Past Souls Paranormal, this ghost hunt offers a guided tour of the eerie Wookey Hole Caves, complimentary drinks and snacks, and the opportunity to investigate various rooms in the mill with ghost hunting gadgets and equipment. The ancient caves, known for ghostly apparitions and poltergeist activity, provide the perfect setting for a night of supernatural exploration. Tickets are priced at £39 per person.
