The Wells Festival of Literature is heading back, offering a smorgasbord of thought-provoking talks and discussions that will satisfy even the most curious minds. With topics ranging from human rights to architecture, politics to sport, psychiatry to genetics, and even a deep dive into our love of tomatoes, the programme is designed to cater to all interests.

But it's not just the mind that will be fed during this year's festival. To keep visitors' energy levels up, there's an array of food options on offer to nourish body and soul throughout the event.

Literary lunches: books and bites

For those looking to combine great food with a side of literary insight, the Festival's popular Literary Lunches are back. This year, guests can dine with the likes of Petroc Trelawny, Jonathan Dimbleby, and Geoffrey Wheatcroft as they discuss their latest works. Tickets for these special lunches must be booked by Tuesday, 15th October, so don't miss out on the chance to break bread with these literary figures.

Local restaurants serving up special deals

Seven local restaurants are also getting in on the action, offering Festival-goers a tasty 10% off their bills. Full details are available on the Festival website, so be sure to check it out and support the local food scene while you're there.

Quick bites and drinks

If you're looking for a quick pick-me-up between events, the Cedars Hall foyer will have sandwiches, soups, cakes, and a selection of hot and cold drinks available to keep you fuelled and ready for more.

Soul Dough: pizza with a side of poetry

And in a delicious new twist, this year's Festival is welcoming the Soul Dough pizza van for the very first time. Serving wood-fired pizzas that are bound to get your mouth watering, the van will be stationed outside Cedars Hall from 5pm to 9pm on 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, and 26th October. Sadly, they won't be around on 25th October, so plan your pizza nights accordingly! You can either turn up and grab a slice or pre-order by calling 07759137582.

With so much on offer, the Wells Festival of Literature is set to be a feast for both the mind and the stomach. For a full programme and details on all the dining options, visit the Festival's website.
