Somerstock review: A spectacular celebration of live music in Somerton
The vibrant music festival that is Somerstock, swept over Somerton this weekend (along with a surprising amount of rain on Saturday), filling the town with an eclectic mix of music and events.
This year's festival was an absolute sell-out, showcasing the overwhelming community support for such grand cultural gatherings.
The festival's success was made possible by the incredible community spirit permeating Somerton - from the cheerful and industrious volunteers who ensured the smooth running of the event, to the generous sponsors, committed partners and collaborative organisations that enabled the festivities to come to life.
Kicking off with the festival's first-ever Friday night, the main stage showcased a stellar lineup of talented musicians, from the engaging melodies of Al O'Kane and the unique soundscapes of Not Like The Others to the resonating performances of Young Martyrs and Area 52.
As for Super Saturday, it certainly lived up to its name. The Blockheads led an impressive lineup of twelve bands, providing an unforgettable soundtrack to a day filled with activities. The addition of a Silent Disco, a dedicated Children's Area, a diverse range of food stalls and bars, further enriched the festival's atmosphere, making it a truly comprehensive celebration of music, culture and community spirit.
With two outdoor stages, an Acoustic Tent, a Kids Zone, food trucks, bars, and festival stalls, there was something for everyone. The festival successfully catered to all, creating a beautiful mosaic of experiences that collectively formed a memorable weekend.
This festival truly encapsulates what it means to experience live music in Somerton, and for that, it deserves every bit of praise it receives.
