A blood-soaked tale of power, betrayal and murder is heading to Croscombe as Tangle Theatre brings its explosive reimagining of Julius Caesar to the village hall.

The Wells date is part of the company's latest UK tour, running from 9 October to 15 November. Their stripped-back, high-energy production puts African-inspired storytelling centre stage, with Shakespeare's original text reworked for a fast-paced ensemble performance.

The show is hosted by Croscombe Frolics and supported by Take Art, Somerset's rural touring charity. It takes place on Saturday 18 October at 7.30pm. Tickets are £14 for adults, £9 for low income, and £6 for under-25s, available from Take Art or The George Inn in Croscombe.

Directed by Anna Coombs with live music by John Pfumojena, this punchy retelling rips into the chaos unleashed when Brutus and Cassius stab Julius Caesar in full public view. The fallout is fast, furious and bloody.

Coombs has cut the cast down from 40 to a tight group, keeping Shakespeare's language but turning up the pace. The staging nods to stormy omens and ignored warnings, with themes of climate change bubbling under the surface – but audiences are left to draw their own conclusions.
