So far 102 presenters of charities and other good causes have received money from Wells SOUP!

They also benefited from valuable publicity for their organisation through this grant-giving lunch.

Now another four will be winners when SOUP! returns on Saturday (September 6).

A full house is expected in Wells Cathedral's Transepts will hear each of them spend four minutes explaining how they will use a share of the £700 on offer. Then take questions from the audience.

The four worthy causes are:

"We will also hear from Windsor Hill Refuge Centre about how they used the money received at April's event," said Ross Young of SOUP!, which is organised by Wells Independents.

"We will start at 1pm but advise arriving by 12.40pm to be sure of getting a seat.

The event is sponsored by Bowleys Garage of Wells.

Guests include the High Sheriff of Somerset, Janet Montgomery.

·      Ross Young, who has managed and coordinated the successful running of Wells SOUP! over the past few years, will be retiring after the December 13th fundraising lunch. Ross has been instrumental in the remarkable success of Wells SOUP!

The challenge now is to find a replacement. We are keen to create a small team that will take on this role. Since its formation, Wells SOUP! has supported over 100 groups within our community. And there is more to be done.

If you are interested in this voluntary role and wish to help lead Wells SOUP! into the future, please send an email to [email protected]
