A stretch of the Old Bristol Road and Gibbets Brow, between Priddy and West Harptree is closed so that work can be carried out on trees.

The road between the Castle of Comfort and The Wellsway will be closed between 9am and 3.30pm, Monday to Friday, for three weeks from today (August 1).

The road closure applies to pedestrians, cyclists and horseriders, as well as motor vehicles.

It is in place to allow the removal of ash trees affected by ash dieback disease.

The work is being carried out by MTL Group, who have confirmed that "At all times our highly trained and experience staff will be on the lookout for any wildlife and their homes throughout the works, and have an ecology team available to them all times to support with any decision."

All businesses are still open, and anyone living within the closure will be able to come and go in one direction.
