A couple of rare piece of old footage featuring Wells have come to light.

A 1926 cinefilm has been posted on The Time Machine YouTube channel, which is a treasure trove of fascinating old footage from around the country.

It begins with a screen saying "Wells Cathedral as it might appear after too much Cider" followed by some blurred views of the magnificent building.

The reel also has footage of open top buses in Cheddar Gorge, donkey rides on Weston-super-Mare beach and visitors to the Roman Baths in Bath.

A second piece of footage, from 1920, was posted today (Monday, August 8) which is a longer film showing various different views of the Cathedral and the Bishop's Palace.
