Property Fire at High Street, Street

Date: 11.05.2018Time: 11:22Location: High Street, StreetFire Control received a call from someone reporting smoke coming from an electrical box inside their property. Control were able to confirm that all persons were able to evacuate the property safely.One fire engine from Glastonbury, one from Somerton and one from Wells were mobilised to the incident. On arrival crews confirmed there to be a fire in the hallway involving an electrical box and requested attendance of the electricity board.11:43 Crews were working to extinguish the fire using two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus, one attack jet, one safety jet and two CO2 extinguishers. The third fire engine was also stood down as crews advised they were not required for this incident.Final DetailsThis fire was involving an electrical consumer unit which has been completely destroyed by the fire. There was also severe smoke damage to the hallway of the property and light smoke damage to the ground floor. The cause of the fire was accidental and duty of care has been handed back to the occupier and Western Power who are now in attendance.
