Well is about to welcome a new addition to its High Street, as Poundland prepares to open its doors to eager shoppers on December 9.

This marks the fourth store opening in the region, with Poundland taking over shop units that were previously occupied by the fashion retailer M&Co and former Wilko stores.

Poundland's expansion in the area began with the opening of the first two stores on November 25. Portishead High Street and Market Street in Crewkerne were the first to have their ribbons cut, introducing the community to Poundland's diverse range of affordable products.

On December 2, the Midsomer Norton High Street store will follow suit and open its doors to the public, offering shoppers in the area access to Poundland's budget-friendly offerings. Wells is the last of the new stores to open in Somerset.

The Wells store opening is part of Poundland's ambitious plan to open 86 stores over a three-month period.

Austin Cooke, Poundland's managing director, said: "We excitedly continue to open and relocate stores at pace so we can bring our best offer, including all-new clothing, chilled and frozen food to customers, existing and new. The monumental effort from our teams continues to amaze me, and it supports jobs and high streets right across Britain.

"That's 86 stores in 70 days that we'll have opened successfully, and no one should underestimate the effort and energy that our teams have put into delivering that achievement - I certainly don't. It's phenomenal."
