Police uncover cannabis factory in Wells High Street

Police in Wells have made a significant discovery this week, uncovering a large cannabis factory in the town.

Acting on concerns raised by members of the public, the Wells Neighbourhood Policing Team took action on Monday 10 April at midday.

Officers attended an address in Wells High Street and found over 200 suspected cannabis plants and various items of equipment associated with the illegal cultivation of the drug. Since the discovery, police have removed the plants and is continuing to investigate to identify those responsible.

Neighbourhood Sergeant Simon Lancey expressed gratitude to the members of the public who alerted them to the suspected factory, saying, "We would like to thank the public who expressed their concerns about the factory. We have been seizing the plants since Monday and will continue to conduct enquiries to find the individuals responsible and hold them to account."

Sgt Lancey has urged anyone with further information about the factory or those responsible for coming forward and assisting with the ongoing investigation.
