Police still hunting thieves who stole £5k of trophies from Mendip Golf Club

Police are still searching for the thieves who broke into Mendip Golf Club in Gurney Slade, near Wells, and stole around 25 trophies worth an estimated £5,000.
The break-in happened in the early hours of Friday 18 July, when rocks and stones were used to smash a fire exit window and shatter the glass cabinet holding the trophies. CCTV footage shows three people arriving in a dark-coloured car before making off with a bag of trophies.
The haul included items donated by past members and their families, many engraved with the names of previous winners. Club manager Stuart Disney said the sentimental value of the trophies "will never come back".
Police say the burglary alarm was triggered at 4.47am and that enquiries are continuing. Officers are appealing for anyone with information or dashcam footage from the area to call 101, quoting reference 5225203242.
Over the same weekend, burglars also targeted Bridport and West Dorset Golf Club, with other similar crimes reported in recent months at golf clubs in Somerset, Devon, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire.
