Plans submitted to increase number of travellers' caravan pitches at site in Emborough

A planning application has been submitted to increase the number of pitches for travellers' caravans at a site in Emborough.

The application to Mendip District Council for the use of land as a nine-pitch travellers' caravan site at Old Gore Wood, Old Gore Lane, Emborough, has been made by Mr S Essex.

The site, which is at the junction of Old Gore Lane and the A37, was granted permission for two pitches on appeal back in 2015.

If approved, the current plan would add seven more caravan pitches, with the application saying that travellers' sites are required as the need in the district is not being met.

Other planning applications in the Wells area that have been submitted this week to Mendip District Council include:

Application for approval of details reserved by conditions 3 (Tree Protection Plan), 4 (Materials), 5 (Sample Panel), 6 (Joinery Details), 7 (Ducts, Pipes, Rainwater Goods), 8 (Materials) and 9 (External Lighting) on planning consent 2019/0888/HSE at Ash Tree Farm, Old Ditch, Westbury-sub-Mendip, has been made by Mr Jonathan Jones.

Replacement rear extension and retrospective application for first floor strengthening at 22 Union Street, Wells, has been applied for by Mr and Mrs Taschini.

Works to a tree in a Conservation Area, Norway Spruce (T1)-Fell at The Grange, Back Lane, Litton, are wanted by Mr Roger Penny.

Installation of two dormers and extension of existing dormer on rear elevation at Stream Farm, Stream Lane, North Wootton, has been applied for by Messrs Ellis-Jones and Bayley.

An application to move an 11m pole approximately 45m in line with the existing overhead line, to reduce the overall length of the line on land at South Rock Industrial Estate, Chilcompton, has been made by Louise Haskins.

Planning applications in the Wells area that have been decided this week by Mendip District Council include:

Application for a certificate of lawful existing development for the conversion of garage to ancillary accommodation at The Old Church, 129A Stockhill Road, Chilcompton, by Mrs Tricia Greenwood has been approved.

Proposed demolition of existing bungalow and construction of a five-bed dwelling at Sharcombe Grange, Sharcombe Lane, Dinder, by Mr M Osborne has been approved.

An application for outline planning permission for the conversion of barn to studio with details of access, landscaping, layout and scale at Clapton Farm, Clapton Road, Clapton, by Mrs Lindsey Smedley has been withdrawn.

First floor extension over existing side attached garage and internal modifications at 33 Kings Castle Road, Wells, by Sohrab Rustomjee and Silvia Vercher has been approved.

Plans to remove an existing rear garden timber patio, erect new timber framed veranda structure along full length of rear garden elevation with associated raised patio at The Garden House, Little Entry, Wells, by Mr and Mrs Hill have been withdrawn.
