A new shop could be built at Brownes Garden Centre

Brownes Garden Centre on the edge of Wells could soon be getting a fresh new look.

Mendip District Council planners have approved a proposal to build a new retail building in place of the existing shop, as well as a storage shed.

The garden centre moved to its current location on the Glastonbury Road in the 1970s, and the timber building which was put up then, is still used today. The time has now come to replace it, and go-ahead has been given for a low level timber-clad building to be put up in its place.
