A third attempt by Wookey Hole Caves to get planning permission to build nine houses on Homestead Park has been refused by Mendip District Council.

The application sought permission to build nine three-bedroom homes on part of the site, following the demolition of the 4/5 bedroom house currently on the site, and the removal of three park homes and one park home plot.

Fifty letters of objection were received in opposition to the plans.

The application has been refused on the grounds that the plans failed to provide adequate amenity space for future occupiers and therefore constituted over-development, and that the proposed development would have "an adverse overbearing impact on the amenities of adjoining residential occupiers."
