A period drama will be filmed at the Bishop's Palace in Wells both this week and next week, meaning the attraction may be closing earlier than usual on some days.

Today (September 18) will see the palace close at 3.30pm, with last entry at 3pm, for the filming.

A spokesperson for the palace said: "We're delighted to be hosting filming at the palace this week and next.

"The production team, working for an ABC period drama, based at the Bottle Yard Studios, were delighted with the stunning gardens and with the historical features of the palace buildings, and thought it would be perfect for several scenes."

The palace is not releasing the name of the production at this stage, due to its confidentiality agreements with the film-makers.
