Wells is set for a major summer celebration as the Bishop's Palace and Gardens hosts Party at the Palace on Saturday, 12th July 2025.

The event promises to be a standout day in the city's calendar, featuring an impressive line-up of musical acts and raising funds for The Palace Trust.

Headlining the event is acclaimed folk singer-songwriter Seth Lakeman, whose Mercury Prize-nominated album Kitty Jay launched a career spanning 20 years. Also taking the stage are The Wurzels, known for their Scrumpy and Western classics, alongside Mad Dog Mcrea with their unique blend of folk rock, gypsy jazz, and bluegrass. Festival favourites 3 Daft Monkeys and the historic Wells City Band will complete the line-up.

Tickets for the event, which runs from midday to 10pm, go on sale from Sunday, 1st December 2024. Early bird tickets are priced at £30 for adults and £20 for children. Spaces are limited, so organisers are urging people to secure their tickets early.

"This promises to be a fantastic day of live music in one of Wells' most iconic settings," said a spokesperson for the Bishop's Palace. "It's not only a celebration of music but also a vital fundraising event to support the ongoing conservation of the Palace and its gardens."

The event will see Seth Lakeman performing songs from his upcoming album The Granite Way, set for release in February 2025, alongside hits from his two-decade career. The Wurzels, famed for their light-hearted anthems, are sure to draw a crowd, while Mad Dog Mcrea and 3 Daft Monkeys bring their high-energy festival sound to the stage. Wells City Band, with over 180 years of history, will add a local touch to the day.

Party at the Palace will also serve as a fundraiser for The Palace Trust, which works to preserve the historic Bishop's Palace and its gardens. Visitors are advised to check the event FAQs and terms and conditions before purchasing tickets at bishopspalace.org.uk/party.
