The Wells Foodbank, a crucial lifeline for many in the community, has recently moved to a new location at the former Pump House on Rowdens Road.

This move has come with the dual impact of providing much-needed additional space but also bringing the challenge of higher rental costs.

Previously situated in the industrial estate on Jocelyn Road, the space was acquired by St Andrews Press, necessitating the Foodbank's relocation. The old Pump House offers the Foodbank more room to store and distribute food, but the increased rent presents a new financial hurdle for the charitable organisation.

In light of these changes, Wells Foodbank also wants to remind the community of the procedure for obtaining food assistance. Individuals in need must first acquire a Foodbank voucher, which can be obtained from various local agencies, including the Citizens Advice Bureau, social workers, job centres, doctor's surgeries, local churches, health agencies, housing officers, and local schools. The Foodbank can also be directly contacted for vouchers via email at [email protected].

Food parcels are available for collection on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm at the Foodbank's new address, the Old Pumphouse, Rowdens Road, Wells BA5 1TU. These parcels provide three days' worth of nutritious meals for each household member and include toiletries. The Foodbank also endeavours to meet special dietary needs and provide for pets when possible.
