Mosaic project given another boost with cheque for £1,000

THE first donation by a private citizen has been made to the Wells in Mosaic project.

It is a cheque for £1,000 from Richard Green of Fairways, Wells.

"This is a very good project for Wells – for the future and for our heritage," said Richard.

"We are delighted by Richard's generosity and support," said Ruth Ames-White, the artist who will create the mosaic.

The six metre diameter mosaic will depict streets and buildings in the centre of Wells, as wells as people and pieces of history. It will be sited near the bandstand in the Recreation Ground, and the project is expected to cost in the region of £80,000.

Richard's gift follows a £5,000 donation from Wells Civic Society, and individuals or businesses can contribute in the following ways:
