A male had to be freed from his vehicle after it flipped on to its side in North Road, Wells, this afternoon (March 13).

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received a call at about 1.15pm reporting a road traffic collision in North Road by Stoberry Park School.

Fire control immediately mobilised one fire appliance from Wells, one fire appliance from Colyton who were returning from a previous incident, the rescue tender from Glastonbury and a duty officer to attend.

The incident commander confirmed a single vehicle road traffic collision with the vehicle ending up on its side with one male trapped inside.

The crews promptly got to work stabilising the vehicle and trying to gain access into the vehicle. The male was extricated from the vehicle and duty of care was passed to on scene paramedics.
