Major work is planned at the entrance to the Llewellyn's Almshouses in Wells to make it more disability friendly.

The work will be carried out on the steps at the entrance in Priest Row, to make them wider and therefore more suitable for people with disability walking aids.

Weather permitting, the work will start on March 9 and is expected to last for a couple of weeks.

A spokesperson for Wells Almshouses said: "This will cause some disruption as the entrance gate will be closed.

"Anyone wishing to visit residents during that time, please contact the resident for access - alternatively, you could call the office on 01749 675813 between 9am and 1pm, Monday to Friday."
