Lidl fans in Wells won't have to wait much longer for the grand opening of the town's new and improved store.

The state-of-the-art supermarket on Strawberry Way will officially open its doors on Thursday, 30 January 2025. Here's everything you need to know about the upgraded store and what it has to offer.

Bigger and better

The new Lidl is nearly double the size of the original store, which had been a staple of the Wells community for almost 30 years. The upgraded site boasts a 1,512m² sales area, providing more space for shoppers and a much wider selection of products.

Opening times

The store will continue to operate its usual hours:

• Monday to Saturday: 8am – 9pm
• Sunday: 10am – 4pm

New features and facilities

The Wells Lidl store has been designed with convenience and comfort in mind.

• Expanded bakery offering freshly baked goods.
• Increased chiller section for more fresh and chilled items.
• Customer-friendly facilities, including toilets with baby-changing amenities.
• Improved parking, with a significantly larger car park offering additional parent & child and disabled spaces.

This multi-million-pound investment hasn't just upgraded the shopping experience—it's also created 20 new jobs, alongside welcoming back existing staff. Lidl has confirmed that all employees will benefit from some of the highest pay rates in the supermarket industry.
