Wells Theatre Festival offers hands-on training in stage fighting for participants aged 11 and up

Ever fancied learning how to throw a punch or wield a sword like a pro? The Wells Theatre Festival is offering a Beginner Stage Fighting Workshop, designed for anyone aged 11 and over, to teach the basics of unarmed and sword combat for the stage.

Led by Wells Theatre Festival founder and professional actor Neil Linden Johnson, the workshop will cover everything from slaps and punches to sword fights, all with a focus on safety. Johnson, who is trained in stage combat, says: "Whether you're an aspiring actor or just want to have fun learning new skills, this workshop will cover everything from slaps and punches to epic sword fights—always with safety first!"

The first workshop will take place on 7 December at Wells Town Hall, running from 9.30am to 1.30pm. Participants can attend solo or with a child, with the option for children to attend on their own. The cost is £25 per person or £40 for two (adult and child, or two children). To book, email [email protected].

For more information about the workshop and the Wells Theatre Festival, visit www.wellstheatrefestival.org.

The festival aims to bring world-class contemporary theatre to Somerset, offering a variety of performances, including free shows for local schools and affordable professional productions.
