Croscombe has a new play area - and it will be officially opened by Judge Rinder next month.

Robert Rinder, who is best known for his arbitration-based reality court show on ITV, Judge Rinder, and his appearance on Strictly Come Dancing in 2016 is expected to open the new Croscombe Parish Council Play area at 11am on Saturday, September 10.

The new facilities were made possible by support from local community groups and businesses including Croscombe Charter Market, Play in a Week, Michael Eavis and Sandersons Estate Agents and with funding gratefully received from the National Lottery Community Fund, Mendip District Council and the Somerset Community Foundation. The play area also received support in-kind from Oatley Construction, Croscombe Primary School, Croscombe Village Hall, The George Inn and local Parish Councillors, as well as Creative Play, the company whose imaginative play equipment has been installed in the play area.

Councillor Ben Gudzelak said, "We could not have pulled this together without your support. Thank you to everyone who helped along the way."

September 10 is also the day of the Harvest Charter Market, which is hosting a bouncy castle and hog roast.
