A pilot has brought joy to the residents of Wells after drawing a giant smiley face in the sky above the city.

The person flying the small aircraft, who has not yet been identified, circled above the city yesterday evening (June 2) at about 6.30pm creating an emoji-style smile in the sky.

Tracking system Flight Radar showed the aircraft travel around the Wells area, Wedmore, Cheddar, Street and Glastonbury, before heading over Bristol and back to South Gloucestershire.

Two weeks ago, it was reported that professional pilot Richard Goodwin performed a similar stunt over Gloucestershire.

Richard, who whose plane is based at Gloucestershire Airport in Staverton, said at the time he was glad he had given people something to smile about in these pandemic-hit times.
