Do you have a passion for books and a heart for helping others? The Home Library Service in Shepton & Wells is looking for dedicated volunteers to bring the joy of reading to those who can't visit the library in person.

What Is the Home Library Service?

The Home Library Service provides books and audiobooks, to people who find it difficult to get to the library due to age, illness, disability, or caring responsibilities. Volunteers help combat loneliness and isolation by delivering library materials (including the loan of iPads) and spending time chatting with customers about their reading preferences.

What Do Volunteers Do?

As a Home Library Service volunteer, you'll:

• 📚 Visit the library to select books and add them to the customer's account.
• 🚗 Deliver books to customers' homes and collect returns.
• 💬 Chat with customers to build relationships and reduce loneliness.
• 🔗 Signpost customers to other helpful services if needed.

Who Can Apply?

Anyone over 18 with a friendly nature and a love of books is welcome. No experience is needed—full training and support are provided. Volunteers must undergo a DBS check, and references are required.
