The new monthly stand-up comedy night Silly Sausage, held at The Venue in Wells, is proving to be a huge hit with local audiences.

Organiser, comedian and writer Heather Bryson-Banks has been overwhelmed by the support and said: "I knew the people of Wells loved comedy, having done a lot of market research during the Wells Comedy Festival.

"However, I still wasn't sure if there would be enough support to sustain a regular comedy night in the city.

"To my surprise, most nights are almost selling out with at least 80 per cent advance online sales.

"We have now got a lot of returning regulars and still plenty of room for curious newbies. It's an affordable, fun and friendly night in a great venue in South Street."

This Saturday (November 9) September's headliner, Edinburgh Festival hit Louise Leigh returns as guest MC.

Funny Women Regional Finalist (2017) and Stand Up for Cider finalist (2016 and 18), Louise was described by Andrew O'Neill as "Charming, funny and has a natural rapport with the audience."

This month, Drew Taylor will headline. Drew is an engaging and funny man, and definitely one to watch.

He peppers his observations with a quick and clever wit, and delivers it all in a way that draws audiences in.

Abi Clarke will open the night - a rising star of the South West comedy scene and hit with Sims-loving audiences everywhere thanks to a viral Facebook video - Abi is not one to miss.

There will be support from Katy Pritchet, Tom Glover, Mark Montgomery, Julia Stenton and musical genius David Hoare.

Saturday November 9 - 7.30pm - show starts at 8pm sharp. Chips available in the break - order at the bar.
