Goodbye Gloom, Hello Community Day

By Emma Lefevre

20th Jan 2024 | Local News

January's gloom will be banished on Saturday 20th by an extraordinary gathering of the entertainers and volunteers who make today's Wells so special.

All are welcome to meet, greet, and enjoy live music. Our iconic cathedral is the venue and everything's free with performances, workshops, and activities to take part in from 10am-4pm.

  • Look at the 80 stalls. They range from carnival to dry stone walling, chess, health charities, amateur bell ringing, classic motorbikes and sports clubs.
  • Listen to pop, rock, Somerset Flutes, Priddy Singers, Wells Oratorio, Wells Good Afternoon Choir and more.
  • Learn about remarkable things happening in Wells you had never heard about before.

There is something for everyone, with invaluable opportunities to get involved in the community or try something new.

Join us at 6.30 after Evensong back in the Nave for the 4th Wells Lantern Parade, a sparkling event to light up those dark, chilly nights.

The Cathedral Cafe will be serving refreshments all day and food and drink will also be available in the Cloisters.

So come along and join us on Saturday. Meet, greet, and enjoy live music.
