New storage premises are urgently needed for the Furniture Storehouse run by Wells Vineyard Church.

Keith Rudyard, a trustee of the church located at Unit 2, Keward Mill Trading Estate, Wells, and his small team collect donated furniture which is stored before it is given, free of charge, to needy people in Wells and surrounding towns and villages.

"The Furniture Storehouse works with some 20 local agencies, such as Mendip YMCA, Mendip CAB, Aster Properties and Mendip District Council who ensure that only needy people get help," said Keith.

"In 2019 81 individuals and families received help with 290 pieces of furniture.

"Until recently the church's landlord kindly loaned the unit next to the church for storage. That unit has now had to be vacated.

"The church are able to use two standard garages as stores loaned to us by Aster Properties which is a great help but is not sufficient space.

"Has anyone a large lock-up unit in Wells that the church could use to keep furniture before it is given away?

"We would also welcome donations of money that can be used to rent a suitable property and keep the elderly Furniture Storehouse delivery van on the road. It was recently serviced, taxed, MOTed and insured which cost almost £1,000.

"Please make a donation if you can, preferably by BACS rather than cash or cheque. Our bank details are below."
