Wells has once again stepped into the spotlight—this time in the world of video games. The much-anticipated title Funko Fusion prominently features Wells, bringing scenes from the cult classic Hot Fuzz to life in a playful, action-packed adventure.

Created by the team behind the popular Lego video game series, Funko Fusion is set to be released on 13 September for PC, PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox. The game allows players to explore themed worlds based on popular movies and TV shows, including Jurassic World, Back to the Future, and Hot Fuzz—with the latter's iconic scenes filmed in Wells.

In Funko Fusion, players can step into the shoes of Nicholas Angel, the no-nonsense cop from Hot Fuzz, as they navigate a virtual version of Wells, taking on challenges and solving crimes in locations that fans of the film will instantly recognise. From The Swan Hotel to The Bishop's Palace, The Crown and the Market Place, the game captures the essence of Wells while adding a fun and humorous twist.

The game's developers, Warrington-based studio 10:10 Games, have drawn on their experience from the Lego Star Wars and Lego Harry Potter titles to create a vibrant and engaging experience. The visual style of Funko Fusion stays true to the aesthetic of Funko Pop figures, with characters and worlds rendered in a colourful, cartoonish style. Players will get to relive their favourite Hot Fuzz moments and mix and match characters from other franchises, leading to hilarious and unexpected scenarios.

One of the game's unique features is the ability to explore different worlds in any order, carrying characters and items between them. You can take He-Man into the Hot Fuzz universe or have Nicholas Angel battle dinosaurs in Jurassic World. The developers have also included special items related to the Wells-based scenes, such as a black light camera to analyse crime scenes, which can be used across the game's various worlds.

Although Funko Fusion is designed for a teen to adult audience, its playful nature and nostalgic nods make it accessible to a wide range of players. The game also features online co-op play, allowing friends to team up and tackle the game's challenges together.

For fans of Hot Fuzz and the city of Wells, Funko Fusion offers the opportunity to see their favourite locations and scenes recreated in a new and exciting way. As Funko Fusion prepares to make its debut, it's clear that Wells's legacy in pop culture continues to grow—this time as a key player in a video game set to captivate audiences around the world.
