From indie rock to muddy church: A jam-packed weekend of fun awaits Wells
Wells is gearing up for a lively weekend with events ranging from indie rock concerts to muddy church outings and boules tournaments.
First, the highly anticipated Godney Gathering returns on July 14th and 15th of July, featuring Liverpool's indie rock sensation, The Zutons, headlining the Main Stage. They will be accompanied by a host of impressive UK artists including The Sherlocks, Dub Pistols, STARS Music, The K's, Gentleman's Dub Club, Ruby J, The Lancashire Hotpots, The Absolutely Dragulous Show, Holy Youth Movement, Nutty Noah, Filta, and many more.
Family-friendly entertainment is also part of the package, with a variety of activities for kids 15 and under, who can attend free of charge.
The next day, on the 16th of July, a delightful afternoon awaits families at Wookey Goat Farm, with the Muddy Church event. The event offers an exciting trail around the farm, sing-alongs, and refreshments. RSVPs are requested for preparation purposes.
For sports enthusiasts, Wells Rotary is back with their annual Boules Tournament, hosted by The Bishops Palace on Sunday, 16th July, from 9.30am. Interested teams can register by contacting [email protected]. The event is included with any standard admission ticket to The Bishop's Palace.
Literature and history buffs will be treated to the Chained Library Experience at Wells Cathedral on Saturday, 15th July, from 10:30am to 12pm. Visitors can delve into the history of the book, explore a range of subjects, and discover how libraries have evolved over time.
Artisanal crafters and makers will be showcasing their skills at the South West Craft Fairs, taking place on the 15th July at the Town Hall. An assortment of the South West's best artisans will be present, offering unique gifts, inspiration, and perhaps a little self-indulgence!
Finally, garden enthusiasts can join the Somerset Food Trail tours at The Bishop's Palace Community Garden on Monday, 17th July at 3pm and Thursday, 20th July at 10.30am. Community Gardener, Jo, will provide insight into what is grown in the garden and how it supports community groups. The tours are included with any valid admission ticket to The Bishop's Palace.
