Friday night will be live jazz and blues night at the Full Moon in Southover, Wells, from now on.

The events, commissioned by landlord Kevin Graham, will feature duos and trios playing in the bar.

He has asked sax player Paul Cannon, who hosts the monthly jazz jams at The Venue in South Street, Wells, to help book the acts.

"The jams are very well attended by musicians and jazz lovers alike," said Paul.

"Because they are so popular we only have time for players and singers to do a couple of numbers each. These new events at the Full Moon will mean they can present full sets."

The series launches on Friday, February 28, with the Newton's Toad Trio, playing lively, French-themed jazz.

The first blues offering is a week later on March 6 with the ZZ Birmingham Trio performing an upbeat mix of covers and original songs. The sessions will start about 8.30pm and admission is free.
