Residents are gearing up for some spectacular fireworks displays this Bonfire Night, promising a memorable evening filled with dazzling pyrotechnics, community spirit, and traditional treats.

Here's a handy guide to what's taking place over the weekend:

Shepton Mallet's Rotary Club display kicks off Bonfire Night celebrations

Shepton Mallet's much-loved Rotary Club fireworks display is back on Saturday, 2 November, at West Shepton Playing Fields, where locals can expect a lively evening with a roaring bonfire and breathtaking fireworks. Gates open at 6:15 p.m., giving attendees plenty of time to find a spot and settle in before the bonfire is lit at 7:00 p.m. This annual event is a staple in Shepton Mallet's Bonfire Night calendar, drawing families, friends, and visitors eager to enjoy the crisp autumn air and seasonal celebrations.

Tickets are available both in advance and on the night, with adult tickets priced at £5 in advance or £6 at the gate. Entry for children aged 5–15 is £3 in advance or £4 at the gate, while children under four can attend for free. Family tickets are also available, making it easy for groups to enjoy the event together.

The organisers remind attendees that sparklers and personal fireworks are not allowed for safety reasons. With a loyal following, this community event is expected to be popular, so early arrival is encouraged to secure the best view of the display.

Wells offers fun with fireworks

Wells City Football Club will kick off its display on Sunday, 3 November, at Rowdens Road. Known for its vibrant atmosphere, the club's annual display features not only fireworks but also hot food, drinks, and entertainment for the whole family. Gates open at 5:00 p.m., with the display beginning after dark.

Tickets at Wells City Football Club are priced at £5 for adults, £3 for children, and £15 for families, with all proceeds supporting the club's youth teams and community projects. For locals who enjoy a lively crowd and community feel, this event is a fantastic choice.

Somerton's fireworks and disco offer a lively Saturday night

For those closer to Somerton, the Recreation Ground will play host to the town's annual Bonfire Night fireworks display on Saturday, 2 November, blending the classic display with an added disco for post-fireworks fun. Gates open at 6:00 p.m., and the fireworks will light up the sky from 7:00 p.m., followed by music and dancing to keep the excitement going well into the evening.

Ticket options include family tickets at £22 in advance (£27 at the gate), adult tickets at £9 in advance (£12 at the gate), couple tickets, and child tickets. With children under three attending for free, it's a great choice for families. Attendees are advised to wrap up warmly and arrive early to secure a spot, as parking is limited.

No fireworks for Street or Glastonbury, but plenty of nearby options

With no official fireworks displays planned in Street or Glastonbury this year, residents there are encouraged to attend one of the nearby events. Each display offers a unique experience, from the community warmth of Shepton Mallet's Rotary Club event to the double celebration in Wells and the lively evening in Somerton.

Whether you're a Bonfire Night enthusiast or simply looking for an evening of fun under the autumn sky, Shepton Mallet, Wells, and Somerton offer everything you need to make this Bonfire Night one to remember.
