Fire in a building at Market Place, Wells

Date: 08.08.2019Time: 17:25Location: Market Place, WellsThe Fire Service were called to a report of smoke in the toilet area within a building at the above location.  One fire engine from Wells, one fire engine from Glastonbury, one fire engine from Shepton Mallet, one supporting officer and additional appliances and supporting officer from Avon also attended.  On arrival crews confirmed no signs of fire but  smoke found in the toilets.  Further investigations carried out by fire crews.Small fire confined to ground floor extraction system.  The fire was out on arrival.  Crews carried out a thorough inspection of ground floor and first floor areas.  Main extractor fan isolated.  Equipment used, one safety jet, one hose reel jet, two thermal imaging cameras and one triple extension ladder.  The cause of the fire was accidental.
