Everything we know about the Rare Plant Fair returning to Wells in 2025

The Rare Plant Fair is set to return to The Bishop's Palace in Wells on Sunday, 16 March 2025, offering plant enthusiasts the chance to explore a unique selection of plants from expert growers.

What is the Rare Plant Fair?

The event brings together carefully selected nurseries, each run by specialist growers offering a diverse range of perennials, shrubs, trees, alpines, bulbs, and exotic plants. Many of the nursery owners are experts in their field, with some holding National Collections, and they will be on hand to offer advice and guidance.

Visitors can also pre-order plants from participating nurseries and collect them on the day—check the Rare Plant Fair website for details.

Where is it being held?

The fair takes place at The Bishop's Palace and Gardens in Wells, a 14-acre RHS Partner Garden that will be open to ticket holders, providing a stunning setting for the event.

How much are tickets?

Admission is managed by the Rare Plant Fair organisers and includes access to the fair and the gardens:

  • Free for Friends of the Palace and Palace Admission Ticket holders
  • £8 per adult
  • Free for children under 16

Please note that no other concessions are valid on the day.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, well-behaved dogs on short leads are welcome in the gardens.

Where can I park?

There is no parking at The Bishop's Palace, so visitors are advised to use public car parks in Wells city centre. A pick-up point will be available at the Palace Gate for collecting purchases.

Are there refreshments available?

The Bishop's Table café will be serving lunches and refreshments throughout the day. Visitors are also welcome to bring their own picnics and enjoy them in the gardens.

What about accessibility?

For full accessibility details, visit The Bishop's Palace website.

The event runs from 10am to 4pm, offering a full day of plant shopping, expert advice, and garden inspiration.
