Domestic property fire at Shaftgate Avenue, Shepton Mallet

Date: 03.03.2019Time: 18:04Location: Shaftgate Avenue, Shepton MalletDevon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received a call from a member of the public that there was a fire in the bedroom of her property.

Three Fire appliances from Shepton Mallet and Wells were immediately mobilised by Fire Control.

On arrival, the Incident Commander confirmed that there was a fire in the bedroom of the property and requested the attendance of another appliance which came from Street.

Crews quickly got work the extinguish the fire using a hose reel jet, an attack jet, a safety jet, one thermal imaging camera, one short extension ladder and one gas monitor.

The fire caused approximately 40% fire damage and 100% fire damage to the first floor of the property.

Two female casualties were treated on scene for smoke inhalation by fire crews and paramedics. One of the casualties was taken to hospital for precautionary measures.

The fire was deemed as accidental.
