Crandon Springs residents savour local beers & ciders with the Glastonbury Brewing Company

Residents at Crandon Springs Care Home in Wells, Somerset, recently enjoyed an afternoon of craft beer and cider tasting, courtesy of the Glastonbury Brewing Company/Glastonbury Ales.
Mike Butt, the brewery's Marketing & Sales representative, led the session, sharing insights into the brewing process and the stories behind each drink.
The tasting featured a selection of their beers, including Hedge Monkey, Zen, Lady of the Lake, and Mystery Tor. Hedge Monkey, with its caramel notes, was particularly well-received. Residents also sampled ciders such as Magog which is named after the ancient oak trees in Glastonbury, and Glastonberry, a raspberry-infused cider that emerged as the crowd favourite.
Residents had a great time learning about the drinks and they especially enjoyed the tasting. Brian, a former landlord, said, "I could have done with a pint of this!" Tony was very impressed and plans to purchase some of the beers from the local supermarket in Wells. While Barbara, said "It was a lovely afternoon. Mike was very interesting. I'm looking forward to him returning at Christmas."
Emily, the home's Activities Coordinator, added, "We all had a great time. The residents were really impressed with the presentation and delicious beers and cider, and we're grateful for the gift pack of beers donated to our Summer Fair raffle. Bringing events like this into the home makes it easy for our residents to enjoy a variety of interesting topics and activities and it's a great way to connect with our local community. And while this wasn't exactly a pub crawl, it was certainly a sophisticated way to sample a range of beers and ciders!"
Due to the event's popularity, Mike Butt is scheduled to return to Crandon Springs Care Home for a Christmas tasting session, and the Crandon Springs Activities team are planning to take residents on a tour of the brewery. Mike, commented, "It was great to spend time with the residents and talk them through the beers we have on offer."
