The Tesco in Wells has begun operating a one way system in the store to reduce the risk of coronavirus spreading between shoppers.
According to staff in the store, the one way system is a trial to see how smoothly it runs and how well it is followed by shoppers.
It works by shoppers queuing outside and being let in one at a time, while being explained how the system operates.
Shoppers have to follow each other around the store, keeping two metres apart at all times, marked using tape on the floor.
Overtaking is not allowed and everyone files through to the end of the store, where a member of staff directs them to a specific checkout.
Staff are on hand throughout the store at a safe distance away, to make sure everything runs smoothly.
The mood among shoppers today (March 29) was generally positive, with one saying: "People seem to be following the rules and no one is grumbling really.
"I think it's a good idea and it certainly keeps people a safe distance apart. The only problem is that there is the pressure to not miss anything."
If any shopper misses an item, they have to go back to the start and queue through the store for it again once they have paid for their first lot of shopping.
